Finding it on Ebay: Basic Search Tips
With literally millions of items for sale the task of finding the exact point you want on eBay may seem overwhelming. However, with the right techniques and a little know-how of the research process on eBay can be both exciting and rewarding.
The purpose of this paper is to help you understand the basics of how the search engine of eBay and offer some tips on how to use this engine to find exactly what you want quickly and easily. You might even find yourself having fun!
Almost every eBay page includes an area of basic research. Simply enter your search terms and click the Search button or press Enter on your keyboard. This will perform a search of the bid securities of all 80,000 + categories.
Here are some tips to keep in mind when you search eBay Basic
1. Search terms must be entered following a simple format, a single word or several words with a space between the two. Spaces before, between or after the search words will result in your search results.
2. The eBay search engine considers singular and plural different words. For example, the search will display bracelet securities auction containing the word bracelet, not bracelets.
3. Recognizing accepted shorthand seller. Item title characters are limited to vendors have developed versions of the stenographic phrases most frequently used. For example, NIB means "New In Box." NR means "No Reserve".
It may also be Shortcut specific category. For example, CBK means "Cabbage Patch Kids," SS means "Sterling Silver".
While browsing category that interests you, take note of these terms and include them in your search.
4. In general, using a basic search Results will auction or BIN (Buy Now) Listings only, no items in stores.
5. Experience with synonyms. Try looking for Cell Phone, cell phone and mobile. You will end up with any results.
6. Consider alternative spellings and / or names when you perform your search. For example, try both television and the telephone or television and telephone.
